What to wear

What should I wear?

Short Answer:  What you like and makes you feel comfortable!

Long Answer:
Do not stress about clothing.  Yes, it can help a picture, but you being comfortable will ‘make’ a picture.  Here are some guidelines, but not rules.

Everyone
- Layer!  You can get more looks out of one set of clothing with extra sweaters, scarves, hats and shirts (wear a tank under for quick changes).
-  Choose clothing that frames your face.  For men, that means collars.  For ladies, that means scarves, v-necks, collars, ruffles. Make sure you are all wearing clothing from the same season.  One in corduroy next to a tank top might not look too realistic.
- Choose one color palate (primary, pastels, warm, cool etc.).  It’s easiest if you pick two or three colors plus a nuetral and run with it.  Think of it as a line of clothing or an individual outfit, as if you were dressing only yourself. Most likely you aren’t going to were the same color from head to toe. You may combine patterns. solids and textures. With all of this in mind, you also wouldn’t dress in different florals, plaids and stripes.

For individuals- the sky is the limit! Bring dress-up clothes if your child loves to dress up!  Capes, princess dresses and tutus make excellent photos!
- Little girls look great in big bows, flowers, hats with flowers (if you’re into that kind of thing).

Group Example
- Check out the pictures to the left; Both families chose coordinating color pallets but with different textures and patterns.. REMEMBER – these are GUIDELINES!  There are so many options that “work”!  You’ll be beautiful, don’t worry!

If you’re really stuck, and just can’t decide – go for color!
- And if you really, really can’t decide – jazz it up!  There’s a reason why wedding photos look so great!

And if you’re still having trouble – think about the colors in the room where you want to hang the image.
